This year's class of twelve students comes from schools throughout Chicago's South and West Sides: Kenwood Academy, North Lawndale, Bogan, Fenger, Chicago Vocational, Harlan and Kennedy King College.  During the networking session, students practiced their professional performances by mingling with guests at Latham & Watkins' offices in the Willis Tower. For many of the young people, it was not only their first time in the nation's tallest building, but also their first time speaking with executives.  Three students spoke to the audience about how the Development School for Youth can help them grow.

"By choosing to be part of the Development School for Youth, each of these young people has already created one of many new performances they will develop over the course of this semester as they broaden their worlds and are challenged to grow," said  Director David Cherry.

Guests at the orientation included Scott Hairston, Latham & Watkins, Andy Bosman, Navigant Consulting, Cynthia Smith, MetLife, Amy Welzer, JP Morgan Chase, and City of Chicago's 15th Ward Alderman Toni Foulkes. See photo.
