New Jersey Development School for Youth Places 180 young people in summer internships!

On Tuesday, May 4th, the All Stars Project of New Jersey, Development School for Youth (ASP of NJ, DSY) held its graduation for 119 students from Newark and surrounding communities. The graduation was hosted at Novartis Pharmaceuticals in East Hanover, NJ. Over 120 family members, educators and representatives from the business community came out to congratulate the young people.

This year the ASP of NJ, DSY will be placing 180 students in paid summer internships. To date, 149 positions have been secured, either through renewals from companies who sponsored interns last year, or new companies that have come on board. Tiffany & Co. has more than quadrupled their commitment from last year and is taking on 20 interns this coming summer. D&B, a leading sponsor, is sponsoring 30 interns. Other companies include Hollister Construction with 10 interns, PSEG with eight interns, and Ernst and Young, and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey both taking on six interns each.

The All Stars Project of New Jersey sponsored a breakfast hosted by Derek DiRisio, Vice President and Controller of PSEG, on Thursday, March 4th at PSEG in Newark which brought out current and potential new business partners together to discuss internships and how to be involved in DSY for 2010.
