Get Organized and Lead (GOAL) Summer Internship

The Get Organized and Lead (GOAL) Summer Internship has kicked off its 2010 program!

We are hitting the streets of New York, New Jersey, and the San Francisco Bay Area to make it possible for another 1,000 or more young people to participate in the All Stars Project's cutting edge performance based after-school programs!

An ensemble of almost 40 college students and recent graduates from all over the country and the world are supporting this nationwide grass-roots organizing effort, continuing the legacy of over 30 years of a successful, nontraditional approach to community outreach and fundraising.

The GOAL street performance fundraising teams will be out on the streets for 7 weeks this summer working toward our goal to provide afterschool development opportunities for 1,000 more urban youth. In addition to fundraising, the interns will gain hands-on experience within the non-profit sector and learn directly from leaders in the field how to make significant and tangible change in poor communities. Through group projects, the interns will continue to develop the All Stars' online networking community and support the expansion of the GOAL internship in New Jersey and the San Francisco Bay Area. They will also be tackling hard-hitting issues such as poverty and education, as well as a plethora of others through opinion pieces, letters to the editor, and our own All Stars GOAL Think Tank.

The Interns will also be attend meetings with leading donors and Board members of the All Stars Project, including CEOs of Fortune 500 companies, Managing Directors on Wall Street, hedge fund executives, and attorneys. From these leaders, interns will learn about new models of philanthropy, corporate social responsibility, and diversity in the community and the boardroom in an effort to expand their knowledge of the non-profit arena.

This internship is a leadership development opportunity for students interested in fundraising, community activism, youth empowerment, and performance, who are looking for a challenging experience where they can build programs, develop leadership skills, and make a significant difference for inner-city youth.

If you have any questions or would like more information about getting involved with the program in the future, please contact Katie Harrington, Summer Internship Program Manager at kharrington@allstars.org or (212) 356-8424.

Recruitment for this 7-week summer internship in 2010 will begin in the Winter of 2011.
