In addition to her day-to-day work with the young people
of New Jersey, director Gloria Strickland finds time to share
her expertise, experience and success with other youth development
and education professionals. At the end of April of this year,
Strickland represented the All Stars at a conference sponsored
SJA (Stedlijk Jongerenwerk Amsterdam), which works
with urban youth in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. SJA invited
youth-workers throughout The Netherlands to come and learn
about the All Stars program models and approach to youth development,
which SJA itself began implementing in 2002.
In 2003 Strickland represented the All Stars Project at the
Third Annual Meeting of the Black Alliance for Educational
Options in Dallas and was a presenter at the annual
meeting of the American Psychological Association,
on a panel entitled “The Impact of Participatory Youth
Programs” that was chaired by Dr. Edmund W. Gordon,
Director of Columbia University’s Institute for Urban
and Minority Education.
