• The “Rappin’ Reality” workshop led
by Atlanta Producer, “Browneyes,” and All Stars
Managing Producer, Collette Frix, is catching fire around
the Metro Atlanta Area! The workshop was invited to an emergency
children’s shelter for 40 young people and staff; it
was brought in by a group of students at the GSU School of
Social Work; and was featured at an outdoor event in the Summerhill
neighborhood. More are on the way!
• This summer, the All Stars will create a series of
events with tenants at the Grady and University Homes in the
city of Decatur, including performance workshops, outreach
activities and a one-day audition and talent show during the
summer. In the fall, other residents of Decatur will have
the opportunity to meet the All Stars at a series of Rappin’
Reality performance workshops and a special one day All Stars
event where youth from around Atlanta will participate with
the youth of Decatur.
• All Stars volunteer Christy Seigling is organizing
a mid-July benefit concert in East Atlanta with Punk, Rockabilly
and Hip-Hop musicians creating an unusual eclectic performance
in support of the All Stars.
• All Stars Producer, “Browneyes” is getting
the All Stars’ message out when she raps. She has performed
at: Spellman College, Men Stopping Violence, The Women’s
Foundation, Georgia State University and University Homes.
• While the All Stars is growing, the Atlanta Independent
Theatre recently expanded its ensemble through its What’s
the Point? performance/political play reading series.
Upcoming is the Fourth Fridays: The Ensemble Plays,
a once-a-month improvisational workshop for people interested
in developing a performance ensemble for Atlanta Independent
Theatre.
To get involved in any of our efforts make the All Stars’
cultural programs more available to the Atlanta metropolitan
area, call (770) 242-2118 or email us at AllStarsTheater@aol.com.
