Getting up-to-date with the All Stars Project New Jersey

The All Stars Project New Jersey celebrated a “summer of development” with high quality youth development program activities and a high energy grassroots fundraising campaign.

Forty-two young graduates of the Development School for Youth spent eight weeks in paid summer internships at 26 corporations throughout the New Jersey metropolitan area.  On August 19, the interns, their supervisors and co-workers — about 100 people in all — gathered together for a ceremony in which young people publicly thanked their supervisors for their special contribution to youth development.  (see photo)

The All Stars Talent Show Network brought developmental culture to the city of Irvington, New Jersey.  Throughout the month of August, ASP-NJ All Stars director Gloria Strickland and a team of youth and adult volunteers invited young people to participate in a one-day event at Thurgood Marshall School that included an audition, workshop and talent show.

NJ fundraising director Bonny Gildin led a team of twelve volunteers in a $25,000 summer-of-development fundraising campaign.  The campaign included a seven-week phone-a-thon, conducted in the Newark office, and a barbeque-fundraiser in suburban Westfield that was attended by 50 longtime and new friends.
