From April through June, the New Jersey All Stars Talent
Show Network sponsored its 11th cycle of cultural
events in Newark, with an audition, performance workshop and
talent show at Barringer High School. The talent show drew
a record 500 participants – performers, youth and adult volunteers
and audience members from the community. The show was emceed
by Michael Santana and Darlene Fluker, both graduates of the
Development School for Youth who are giving back by building
the ASTSN in Newark. The Grand Prize went to the 13-year-old
duo, Two Piece for their creative hip-hop roller skate and
dance routine. In July and August, the ASTSN will be sponsoring
All Stars in Our Neighborhoods, a series of neighborhood events
to introduce more young people to the talent show performance
and development program.
