The All Stars Talent Show Network is a hit in the Bronx – and Amsterdam!

Young performers at the Evander Childs High School talent show.

The All Stars Talent Show Network (ASTSN) held its first ever talent show series at Evander Childs High School (in the Williamsbridge section of the Bronx) running from October 2005 through January 2006. Eight-two performing groups made up of 557 young people took part in one of the largest talent show events to date.

On April 15, the Spring ASTSN talent show series will take place in Brooklyn. Over 500 young people are expected at the audition. To find out more about the April 15 audition, contact Kwamara Thompson at 212-356-8438.

On February 22, Pamela Lewis, the All Stars Project’s Director of Youth Programs was invited to Amsterdam, the Netherlands, to give a talk and lead a one-day training at a conference of seventy-five Dutch youth workers. The conference, sponsored by Stedelijk Jongerenwerk Amsterdam (SJA), an Amsterdam-based youth organization, was designed to introduce the youth workers to the All Stars’ performance-based approach to youth development. SJA, which has been producing All Stars Talent Show Network events in Amsterdam for almost five years, works primarily with Amsterdam’s African and Surinamese youth populations. The conference was a huge success, and there is interest in funding additional All Stars Talent Show Network programs in other parts of Holland and some Dutch territories.
