The Spring 2006 semester of the Joseph A. Forgione Development School for Youth (DSY), the All Stars Project's (ASP) leadership training program, is now underway. The 2006 class marks the beginning of the DSY's tenth year of providing quality supplemental learning experiences and leadership training for inner city youth between the ages of 16 and 21.
Each week during the semester, DSY students attend workshops led by senior executives who partner with the program and introduce students to the worlds of finance, culture, communications and other industries. Students also learn public speaking, how to dress for success, and how to write a resume. All DSY graduates are placed in paid summer internships sponsored by participating companies
To date, a total of 818 students have graduated from the DSY in New York and New Jersey, and 714 young people have been placed in paid summer internships.
Currently, 109 students from New York and New Jersey, representing 50 high schools and 8 colleges, are enrolled in the Spring 2006 semester classes.
