Performers at the Boston All Stars November 4, 2006 one-day event.

On Saturday, November 4, twenty-two young performers participated in Boston All Stars’ one-day event. Among the performers were 11-year-old vocalist, Tejada, and 16 year-old rapper, Demakis. The young rappers, dancers and singers performed for an enthusiastic audience of 83, including family, friends and supporters.

On November 15, Boston All Stars co-hosted a reception at the Harvard Club in Downtown Boston with 59 friends, supporters and youth hosts in attendance. Among the attendees were Nordo and Jane Nissi, Boston All Stars executive director, Evelyn Dougherty, All Stars Project board member Jeffrey Aron, and Boston All Stars’ new director of production, Diane Whitehouse. Dougherty shared her vision for building the All Stars program in Boston and announced an upcoming production of the youth stage work, Have You Ever Seen a Dream Rapping? in early 2007.

“The conversations [at the reception]… were life changing,” said 20-year-old performer and youth host, Aron Wornum. “I say life changing because I am an urban adolescent who has more often been exposed to acts of violence than acts of charity. So for me to sit at a table and converse with those from environments and perspectives that greatly differed from my own left me with just that, a different perspective.”
