Bay Area volunteers prepare for a Talent Show audition.

This summer the Bay Area All Stars community rallied together to participate in a Summer of Development.  Bay Area volunteers manned the phones Thursday nights and came out for Saturday Sidewalk Spectaculars, where they hit the streets to talk to anyone and everyone about the All Stars' cutting-edge youth development programs.  This was all part of the All Stars' national campaign to raise funds to involve an additional 1,000 inner-city youth in All Stars activities this year.  The Bay Area is thrilled to report that their summer efforts brought in 200 new donors to the All Stars community. 

On Friday nights, Bay Area community members met to perform together as part of the Bay Area All Stars’ Developing Community Theatre. Talented guest director Denzil Meyers led participants in intergenerational improvisations and play readings, offering everyone an enlightening opportunity to play together.

Bay Area volunteers also enjoyed some summertime fun in August at the Volunteer Appreciation Bar-B-Que, held at Crown Memorial State Beach on the island of Alameda, CA, where they chowed down on burgers, hotdogs, favorite side dishes, and home-made desserts

The Bay Area kicked off its fall season with the 2007 Fall Benefit for the Bay Area All Stars: A New Partnership for Youth. The event , which was held on Monday, October 1 at the elegant Sir Francis Drake Hotel, honored Doug Drummond of Cisco Systems and featured Bay Area youth performers. October will also mark the beginning of the Bay Area's 12th All Stars Talent Show cycle, with an audition held at Oakland’s historic Sweet's Ballroom on October 20th, followed by a performance workshop on November 3 and a talent show on November 17.
