Boston All Stars Expands Its Support

Young performers Dizzy, Ambar, Demakis, and Janika, with Boston All Stars Director Evelyn Dougherty at the November 6 annual benefit.

It’s been a very exciting fall for the Boston All Stars.  The annual benefit was held on November 6, which this year featured a silent auction.  Eighty-one people, including volunteers, youth, and donors, came out on a very rainy night to support the program.  Over 50 businesses gave items to the auction, ranging from hair cuts, theater and ballet tickets, to a trip to Mexico for a week in Cabo San Lucas.  The event featured performances by Boston All Stars young people Dizzy, Demakis, Ambar, and Janika, who performed both on stage – by singing, rapping, and performing spoken word poetry – and also offstage as hosts for the event, engaging the donors and talking to them about the program.

The next event for the Boston All Stars will be a performance for Martin Luther King's birthday on January 19, 2009 at the Freedom House in Dorchester.  The audition for the Boston All Stars’ spring talent show will be held on April 11, 2009 at the Freedom House, followed by a show on April 25.
