This summer, the All Stars will be unveiling our newly designed headquarters on 42nd Street – a world class development center for inner-city young people in the heart of New York City. The new façade will feature a three-dimensional, seventeen-foot-high star, which everyone who enters the building will pass through, and the lobby will feature an open theatre where performances will be staged in full view of passersby on the street.

All Stars will be celebrating our Grand Re-Opening throughout the year with a series of special events and performances. We’ve created a Grand Opening Package just for All Stars and Castillo Theatre supporters, which includes tickets to four of our favorite offerings, as described below.

Grand Opening: A Star is Born on 42nd Street – On Tuesday, June 3, 2008 the All Stars will be celebrating its grand re-opening of the newly redesigned performance and development center on 42nd Street.  Hundreds of people from the All Stars community of theatre goers, youth, community and business leaders and supporters will celebrate this exciting and historic event which will include tours of the center. We'll be celebrating the success of the All Stars as a national and international center— a cultural jewel of New York. It's the place to be on June 3rd.

The Otto René Castillo Awards for Political Theatre – On Monday, June 9, 2008, the Castillo Theatre is sponsoring the 10th Annual Otto Awards which  brings together the theatre community to honor, recognize and support those theatres, writers and artists who are dedicated to creating work that embraces humanistic and social concerns.  This unique theatre award, created by the Castillo Theatre, has honored such artists as Laurie Anderson, Steppenwolf Theatre, the San Francisco Mime Troupe, Robert Wilson and Kathleen Chalfant. 

Performing the World ’08 is an international festival/conference of the growing international performance movement. This year, PTW’08 will be hosted and co-sponsored by the All Stars and will feature workshops, presentations and performances related to cultural, economic and psychological development, community building, social justice, citizenry, individual and social transformation, and social entrepreneurship. PTW’08 will take place at the All Stars center, as well as at theatres, schools and other venues throughout Manhattan and the five boroughs from October 2-5, 2008.
